On Monday, August 27, the City Council will set Budget Expenditures and Property Tax Requirements for FY2019. The Council plans to “bundle” FOUR PUBLIC HEARINGS into this one meeting. You, the taxpayer, are being given ONE-TIME to speak in public about your property tax concerns. In past years, public testimony has been spread over multiple meetings.

Here are the budget topics that the City Council will endorse on August 27:

– APPROPRIATIONS FOR GENERAL TAX and SPECIAL DISTRICTS –

Consider a resolution fixing the annual appropriations and the Capital Improvement Program for the City of Missoula as set forth in the Fiscal Year 2019 Budget and Capital Improvement Program including: The Tourism Business Improvement District work plan and budget for Fiscal Year 2019; the Business Improvement District work plan and budget for Fiscal Year 2019; The Park District Number 1 work plan and budget for Fiscal Year 2019; the Road District Number 1 work plan and budget for Fiscal Year 2019.

– MEDICAL TAX MILL LEVIES –

Consider increasing the permissive medical tax levy (to pay for City employee health benefits) for the City’s FY 2019 budget.

– ROAD DISTRICT SPECIAL ASSESSMENTS –

Consider a resolution levying and assessing the lots and parcels within the City of Missoula Road District Number 1 preliminarily estimated at $2,407,599 for the costs associated with providing certain maintenance, purchasing and improvement services in fiscal year 2019 for city-owned facilities, land and equipment under the responsibility and care of the City of Missoula Public Works Department’s Street Division, Central Service’s Vehicle Maintenance Division and Development Service’s Engineering Division providing for a method of assessments; and providing for other matters properly relating thereto.

– PARK DISTRICT SPECIAL ASSESSMENTS –
